Aug15 Grey Likes: Dana Tanamachi 2012
I’ve been wondering for a while where the chalkboard trend in interiors is going. I’d been feeling a bit ambivalent about the whole thing lately and reconsidering a few chalk pieces in my own home. That is, until I discovered Dana Tanamachi.
Dana Tanamachi is chalk letterer and graphic designer living in Brooklyn. Her work is unreal, don’t you agree? Her artwork is everywhere from storefronts to the cover of O Magazine. She has fully restored my faith in the pure awesomeness that is chalk art.
Be sure to check out this time lapse video to get a full picture of how she brilliantly crafts each piece.
And last but not least, you can have a piece of Dana’s work in your own home by snagging a set of these adorable alphabet paperweights she created for West Elm – and they’re totally on sale.
A little later today we’ll be back with a roundup of some of our favorite ways to incorporate chalkboards into your spaces!
Images all from Dana Tanamachi. Top photo by Spencer Heyfron for The Wall Street Journal. Last image appeared as a spread in O Magazine.
Aug10 Happy Day 2012
Did you know it’s National S’mores Day? Oh my word. Does it get any better?
To celebrate, we think you should make some of these adorable S’mores Pops. Obviously much easier to eat than traditional campfire style, but totally delicious.
Mmm.
Head over to Glorious Treats for the recipe!
Aug09 Spiked lemonade 2012
A couple of weeks ago over on Grey Likes Weddings we featured an adorable DIY from Collective Members, Valley & Co. We love that we get to share another one of their great ideas today. This one comes right from their lifestyle blog, which is full of fun entertaining ideas.
If you’ve ever had Limonata (delicious italian sodas!), you already know this is going to be good. If it were us, we’d string up some globe lights in the backyard and serve this spiked lemonade at a midweek, outdoor gathering with our neighbors.
What you’ll need:
- San Pellegrino Limonata (can be found at most grocery stores)
- Mint Leaves
- Vodka
Pour 1 oz of vodka into a short glass. Top with limonata, and garnish with mint. If you feel so inclined, use a muddler to crush the mint first, then add your other ingredients for a stronger mint flavor!

Aug07 Succulent Math 2012
I was never good at geometry, but when I count up all of the angles on these amazing hanging terrariums from Score + Solder, I’m pretty sure they are tetra-I-totally-completely-need-these-hedrons.
Like I said, math isn’t my thing.
